Hanoi boosts trade-investment-tourism promotion in US
VOV.VN - A delegation of Hanoi led by Nguyen Manh Quyen, vice chairman of the municipal administration, made a visit to the United States from October 27-31 to carry out trade-investment promotion activities and expand cooperation.
The delegation hosted a workshop on trade-investment-tourism cooperation in San Francisco, with the participation of representatives of large US corporations and investors in the fields of environment and waste treatment, finance-banking, digital technology and electronic information, construction and real estate, and food catering.
They had a meeting with Mark Chandler, director of San Francisco Mayor’s Office of International Trade and Commerce, and with the Consul General of Vietnam in San Francisco, to brief them on Hanoi’s major socio-economic development and its future orientations, as well as cooperation opportunities with the US and California in particular.
While staying in Washington DC, they also had a meeting with officials of the Washington DC Mayor office to explore cooperation opportunities. They introduced the potential and expressed desires for stronger trade-investment-tourism cooperation between the two sides.
Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic Hanoi exported goods worth US$3.4 billion to the US last year, up 25.9% year on year. It also spent US$1.3 billion on imports from the market, up 23% year on year.
