GMS International Trade Fair kicks off in central Vietnam

VOV.VN - The Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) - Quang Tri 2022 International Trade Fair opened on July 25 at Cua Viet Tourist Service Area in the central province of Quang Tri, drawing the participation of 250 enterprises from Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand.

On display across over 400 booths are a range of agro-forestry-aquatic products, household appliances, handicrafts, wooden furniture, construction materials, metal, and electronics products.

Le Duc Tien, vice chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, said the expo is anticipated to become an attractive venue for both locals and tourists to visit and go shopping, a factor which will contribute to stimulating consumption demand and maintaining economic growth.

Furthermore, the GMS trade fair will also serve as an effective bridge in which to promote investment, trade, and tourism activities, whilst simultaneously creating favourable conditions for businesses in GMS countries to introduce their products and services and also seek further investment opportunities, Tien noted.

During the one-week event, visitors will also have the chance to sample traditional dishes from various regions originating from across Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand at food stalls participating in the trade fair.

Moreover, numerous tourism associations and travel firms are anticipated to offer tours to Con Co Island, historical and revolutionary sites in west Quang Tri, as well as package tours to popular destinations in Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand.

This is the first time the trade fair has been held at Cua Viet Tourist Service Area, the starting point of the East-West Economic Corridor, which is the shortest trans-Asia route connecting countries in the Mekong sub-region.
