Nathalia Uemura, a representative of Mundial Foods, an importer and distributor of Vietnamese goods in Japan, noted that Vietnamese goods are a favourite among many Japanese people, and that the company uses Japanese labels for products imported from the Vietnamese market in order to make it easier for local consumers to purchase them.
However, Vietnamese products are asked to meet the stringent quality requirements set by Japanese importers if they wish to make further inroads into this demanding market, she noted.
Tetsuji Haruta, a representative of Gold Cashew Company applauded Vietnamese cashew products, revealed that the company plans to promote Vietnamese products among Japanese consumers, as well as among foreign visitors at stores and tourist attractions throughout the region.
First held in 1976, Foodex Japan represents Japan's largest and most prestigious international food and beverage exhibition, periodically being held in Tokyo and Osaka.
According to a representative of the Vietnam Trade Office in Osaka, the expo provided an ideal venue for Vietnamese enterprises to meet foreign clients to promote the export of agricultural and aquatic products in a large and demanding consumer market like Japan.
