First Kazakhstan-Vietnam freight rail route put into operation

VOV.VN - The first-ever freight rail route linking Kazakhstan and Vietnam was launched in December 2022, announced the Railways of Transport and Trade JSC (Ratraco).

To mark the occasion, a train transporting 24 containers carrying Made-in-Vietnam electronic parts departed from Hanoi, travelled through China and eventually reached Almaty in Kazakhstan.

In December 2022 around 70 containers were transported from Vietnam to Kazakhstan via this rail route, said Ratraco.

According to Ratraco, in the past, the majority of electronic components from Vietnam were shipped to Central Asian countries by sea. Using this method, the arrival time of goods was uncertain with journeys typically taking about 50 days.

The new freight rail route is capable of reaching Kazakhstan twice as fast. In addition, it will also solve transportation problems between ASEAN states and Central Asian countries.
