Da Nang well placed to pilot new development mechanisms and models

The event, jointly organized by the Party Central Committee's Commission for Policies and Strategies and the Da Nang People's Committee, with leaders of central ministries and agencies,  municipal officials, experts, scientists, investors, businesses and international organizations in attendance.

Deputy PM Thang was appreciative of Da Nang's initiative in organizing the event, saying Vietnam is entering a new stage of development that requires faster, more sustainable and more self-reliant growth.

Achieving high growth in the coming years will require not only maximizing traditional growth drivers but also creating new ones based on science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transition, modern finance, capital markets, high-quality human resources and stronger policy implementation.

The government sees the need for dynamic and capable localities to take the lead in piloting new development mechanisms and models, creating momentum for local growth while providing practical experience for improving national institutions and policies, he emphasized.

According to the Deputy PM, Da Nang is well placed to take on that role thanks to its strategic location in central Vietnam, expanding international connectivity and its plans for developing an International Financial Center, a Free Trade Zone, high-tech industries, digital finance, green finance and innovation.

The city needs a clear development vision, stronger implementation capacity, effective operating mechanisms, and the ability to attract high-quality investment, technology, knowledge, talent and long-term partners, he continued.

The Deputy PM expressed the hope that activities during the week, particularly the High-level Policy Dialogue, will give valuable policy recommendations, practical cooperation initiatives, substantive investment partnerships, and solutions in finance, technology, human resource development and institutional models that can be put into practice.

He reaffirmed the government's commitment to maintaining a transparent, stable and enabling business environment that protects the lawful rights and interests of investors while encouraging new business models, new technologies and sustainable development initiatives. He added that the annual event is expected to develop into a respected forum, contributing to Da Nang's emergence as a hub for new ideas, new resources and new growth drivers.

Da Nang set to become a "global city"

Da Nang aims to become a "global city" through high-quality governance, the attractiveness of its investment environment, stronger innovation capacity and closer integration with global flows of knowledge, technology and finance, Secretary of the Da Nang municipal Party Committee Le Ngoc Quang said at the opening ceremony.

He noted that the conference comes as Vietnam enters a new stage of development aimed at achieving its strategic goals for 2030 and its vision for 2045. The Party's policies on science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, private sector development, international integration and institutional reform, he said, are creating new opportunities while also requiring localities to renew their growth models.

According to Le Ngoc Quang, the city's competitive advantages lie not only in its geographical location and infrastructure, but also in the quality of its institutions, the speed of decision-making, effective policy implementation and its capacity to serve residents and businesses.

He added that Da Nang will continue to renew its leadership methods, build modern governance, build a transparent, stable and internationally competitive investment environment, and build on its special policies and mechanisms to create new development space, new economic models and new growth drivers.

Quang stressed that the success of businesses, investors and partners is also the success of the city. Da Nang will continue working alongside businesses, investors, experts and international partners by creating favorable conditions for long-term cooperation and investment, while translating the outcomes of the conference into practical action programs, projects and policies, he went on.

Da Nang Economic, Finance and Technology Week 2026, running from July 7 to 12, features a High-level Policy Dialogue, the Vietnam Finance Forum, a workshop on strengthening connectivity among the government, universities and businesses, and seminars on semiconductors and technology.

The events focus on growth model innovation, productivity, competitiveness and quality of life, while providing a platform for dialogue and experience-sharing among central and local leaders, experts, international organizations, investors and businesses in areas including economics, finance, technology, innovation, green finance, digital finance, international finance, artificial intelligence and semiconductors.

On the occasion, the Da Nang People's Committee presented six memorandums of understanding (MOUs) covering investment promotion, innovation, education, high-quality human resource development, modern financial ecosystem development, digital assets, financial technology (fintech), blockchain, and research cooperation on the Da Nang urban railway project.
