Concrete strategy needed to boost agro-fisheries exports to France
VOV.VN - A fully-developed strategy is required in order to bolster the nation’s agro-fisheries exports to the French market, especially as these products account for just a small proportion of total export turnover of Vietnamese goods, according to industry insiders.
Following the first batch of Thanh Ha lychees labelled with the country’s itrace247 origin tracing stamp recently being shipped to France via official channels, the move is anticipated to facilitate the greater export of lychees and other high-quality Vietnamese agricultural products to the demanding market moving forward.
According to statistics released by the International Trade Center, France increased cashew imports from both Vietnam and the Netherlands in the first quarter of the year.
Most notably, the country’s cashew nut market share in France’s imports increased from 58.70% in the first quarter of 2020 to 63.35% in the first quarter of this year.
Experts therefore predicted that France’s cashew nut consumption will grow in the near future, thereby creating greater opportunities for Vietnamese exporters.
According to the European - American Market Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, major Vietnamese export items to the French market are products which belong to the processing sector.
In fact, the export turnover of agro-fisheries products made up less than 10% of the total export turnover to France.
According to experts, a specific strategy should be devised aimed at boosting Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic exports to the French market by offering a reasonable selling price, improving overall product quality, and resolving hurdles in terms of transportation for Vietnamese export companies.
Moreover, with a tax incentive of 0% due to the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the selling price to French consumers will be more competitive compared to products of the same type imported from other countries.
