CATL, VinFast team up to develop EVs for global market

VOV.VN - Vietnamese automaker VinFast, and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd (CATL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on global strategic cooperation in the development of electric vehicles (EVs), including CTC (Cell to Chassis) technology.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Robin Zeng, chairman of CATL, and Pham Nhat Vuong, chairman of Vingroup and VinFast.

Under the MoU, CATL and VinFast will jointly develop new technology, in which the battery and other important components are integrated into the vehicle's chassis as a means of helping it to reduce weight, increase the vehicle's travel distance, and reduce cost.

Moving forward, VinFast is anticipated to become the vanguard car manufacturer which brings this new form of technology to the global market with the strategic cooperation of CATL.

Le Thi Thu Thuy, vice chairwoman of Vingroup and Global CEO of VinFast, underscored the importance of being a strategic partner of CATL, noting that the strategic cooperation will create a breakthrough through the application of advanced technology. Indeed, this will improve its capability to significantly increase the travel distance and make the price of future EV models more competitive, she said.

Most notably, the partnership will contribute to promoting breakthroughs in battery technology and electrochemical mobility solutions on a global scale, thereby contributing to meeting the goals of energy transition and carbon emission reduction on the planet, the CEO added
