Car manufacturer Skoda to enter Vietnam market
VOV.VN - Skoda Auto, a popular car company from the Czech Republic, has unveiled their latest plan to develop a car factory in the northern province of Quang Ninh this year.
Skoda Auto Company recently held a working session with leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade discussing their investment plan to manufacture automobiles in the country.
Under the plan, Skoda Auto will build a car factory in Quang Ninh this year to churn out products for domestic use and export starting next year.
Most notably, the Czech firm’s car models are expected to compete with other popular models from renowned brands manufactured in Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the United States.
Skoda is a long-standing brand that was originally founded in 1925 in the Czech Republic. Later, the company was privatised and has been officially owned by the Volkswagen group since 2000.
At present the company has entered more than 100 countries, with sales reaching nearly 900,000 units last year.
Skoda manufactures various types of cars, ranging from sedans, hatchbacks, wagons to SUVs. The company's most popular models include Slavia, Octavia, and Kodiaq.
Skoda has also launched its electric car branded the Enyaq SUV, which shares the same platform with models like the Volkswagen ID.4 or the Audi Q4 e-Tron.
