Cai Mep port handles inaugural call on Maersk’s Vietnam-RoK-US TPX route
VOV.VN - Cai Mep International Terminal (CMIT) on June 19 announced the successful handling of Maersk Cap Jackson, the first vessel operating on Maersk’s standalone seasonal TPX route linking Vietnam, the Republic of Korea (RoK) and the US West Coast.
The vessel has a deadweight tonnage of 59,336 DWT and a capacity of 4,600 TEUs, operating on the Cai Mep-Busan-Long Beach-Cai Mep route.
The TPX route is currently Maersk’s only standalone trans-Pacific service.
With an average handling productivity of around 120 containers per hour, CMIT completed the loading and unloading of nearly 1,400 TEUs of laden and empty containers in more than nine hours.
The vessel departed safely and on schedule for its onward voyage to the next ports of call.
According to CMIT, Cai Mep’s inclusion in the TPX route shows international shipping lines’ confidence in the port’s operational capacity, service quality and ability to handle long-haul routes.
CMIT currently operates nine international shipping routes, including several direct services connecting major markets in the Americas and Europe.
Together with State management agencies, shipping lines and businesses across the maritime logistics chain, CMIT continues to contribute to the development of the Cai Mep port cluster.
In 2025, the Cai Mep port cluster was ranked first in Southeast Asia and 11th globally in the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) by the World Bank and S&P Global, among more than 400 container ports assessed worldwide.
