Bustling Tet flower market in Dak Lak

VOV.VN - With the traditional Lunar New Year, known locally as Tet, just around the corner, the vibrant and colourful Tet flower market in Buon Ma Thuot city in the central highland province of Dak Lak has attracted thousands of visitors eager to visit and shop.

Nguyen Van Bi, owner of a chrysanthemum garden in Ea Tam ward of Buon Ma Thuot city, said that the purchasing power of consumers this year has increased sharply compared to previous years, adding that he typically sells between 30 and 40 pots of chrysanthemum a day. Each pot costs between VND1 million and VND1.2 million, with some even going for VND8 million each.

Nguyen Van Thanh, a gardener from An Khe in Gia Lai, said that this year he had brought back 8,000 Phalaenopsis orchids with a selling price of about VND300,000 each, 15% higher than last year.

Thanh noted that the purchasing power has grown strongly since the beginning of December, with this expected to see a boom over the next few days.

Apart from flowers, the ornamental plant market in Buon Ma Thuot is also bustling. Duong Thanh Hieu, a gardener from Cu Kuin, said his family brings an apricot worth VND1 billion to the market. In addition, many ornamental trees are worth tens of millions or more.

According to some gardeners, the price of many types of trees and flowers has increased this year due to the prolonged cold weather, making it difficult to take care of them for Tet.
