More than 600 science and technology groups are taking part in Techmart Vietnam ASEAN+3, which opened in Hanoi on September 17.

To Huy Rua, Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and head of its Commission for Popularisation and Education; Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu attended the opening ceremony.

Also present were representatives from ASEAN countries, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea are taking part. 

The techmart is organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Hanoi City People’s Committee and the ASEAN Committee on Science and Technology. 

The event aims to promote advanced technology transfer to heighten competitiveness, productivity and the quality of goods and services. 

There are about 770 stalls displaying more than 2,900 items of modern equipment and technology, including those for the economic world, food processing, renewable energy, and information and telecommunications. 

Many universities, research institutes and sci-tech associations have contributed to the exhibition.

More than 10 science and technology programmes from Vietnam have pride of place at the techmart, which lasts until September 20.
