AI in businesses requires stronger governance and security frameworks
VOV.VN - Experts have called for stronger artificial intelligence (AI) management frameworks as most businesses are not yet ready for large-scale AI adoption due to gaps in infrastructure, data governance and cybersecurity.
The assessment was shared at a workshop organised by Noventiq Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Hanoi on June 30.
Citing Gartner’s 2027 Technology Adoption Roadmap, speakers noted that around 80% of enterprises remain in the pilot stage of IT deployment and are not yet capable of integrating AI into business operations. Meanwhile, 42% of organisations acknowledge they lack adequate infrastructure, data readiness and risk management capabilities.
Nguyen Xuan Hung, solutions consultant at Noventiq Vietnam, said many businesses currently use AI only for repetitive and low-complexity tasks rather than integrating it into core business operations.
According to him, the challenge extends beyond technology. Cybercriminals are increasingly leveraging AI to automate attacks and improve the speed and sophistication of cyber threats.
“About 84% of enterprises have yet to deploy AI across their organisations and mainly use it for simple processes. Around 42% believe they are not ready in terms of infrastructure, data and risk management. At the same time, attackers are also using AI to automate and accelerate cyberattacks,” Hung told participants.
Experts stressed that AI can deliver meaningful value only when it is deployed on well-governed data platforms supported by robust access controls and security measures.
For AI agents, businesses should establish comprehensive governance mechanisms to define data access permissions, usage boundaries and continuous monitoring of AI activities.
Nguyen Vien, solutions engineer at Noventiq Vietnam, said AI agents should be governed from the outset to prevent internal data leaks.
“Administrators must know which AI agents are operating, what tasks they are performing and what data they are authorised to access. AI-generated responses should be restricted to approved enterprise documents rather than retrieving information freely from the internet or exposing internal data externally,” Vien analysed.
Experts agreed that AI will remain a defining technology throughout the digital transformation journey. However, organisations must invest not only in AI tools but also in digital infrastructure, high-quality data, governance frameworks and cybersecurity.
Rather than focusing solely on deploying AI applications, businesses should treat data governance, cybersecurity and identity management as the foundation for safe, scalable and sustainable AI adoption, they concluded.
