Southwest region boosts ties with diplomatic missions

(VOV) - On June 5,  Can Tho city and the Steering Committee for the Southwest Region leaders held a working session with the heads of Vietnamese diplomatic missions. 

They briefed the guests on the socio-economic situation of the southwest region and Can Tho city and urged the diplomats to introduce the region’s potential and advantages and call for investments in Can Tho and other localities in the Mekong Delta. 

The steering committee asked the diplomats facilitate trade and investment promotion activities and focus on high-demand fields like transport infrastructure, support industry, logistics services, agricultural product processing and climate change adaptation.

They were also asked to provide information on the socio-economic situation and investment cooperation demands of their host country.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Cuong used the occasion to speak briefly on challenges and opportunities facing Vietnam as it integrates into the global economy and participates in free trade agreements (FTAs).
