Promoting unity in national construction and defense

On the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, the President wrote that Vietnam has issued a score of policies since the August Revolution to promote national unity.

On the theme “people know, people discuss, people implement and people supervise”, the people’s mastery in state, social and economic management has been expanded to encourage national development with the engagement of Vietnamese  abroad.

In the current context of building a law-governed socialist State of the people, by the people and for the people, the President admitted negative occurrences such as wealth gap, corruption, wastefulness and violation of legitimate rights of the people. 

It is imperative to hold regular dialogues and deal with public concern over employment, land and the environment; actively fight distorted allegations by hostile forces; fine-tune socio-economic development policies for ethnic and mountainous areas and enhance the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and trade unions’ role in implementing great national unity policies as well as ethnic and religious work.

In the article, the State leader called for spreading the campaign “All the people unite to build new-style rural areas and civilised urban areas” for 2016-2020 initiated by the VFF, promoting people-to-people diplomacy to attract more Vietnamese nationals overseas’ efforts to contribute more to the homeland. 

He wrote that national unity is the key to success in national industrialization and modernization, international integration and the securing of independence, national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
