Vietnam, Cuba foster defence relations
Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong, Chairman of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) received a delegation from the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces led by Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen Leopoldo Cintra Frias in Hanoi on March 27.

He affirmed that Vietnam always remembers the great and effective support the Party, State and people of Cuba has provided for Vietnam during the national liberation in the past as well as the current national building and protection.
For his part, the Cuban minister briefed the host on the outcomes of his meetings with the Defence Ministry’s leaders, saying the two sides agreed to continue promoting collaboration in party building and political affairs while regularly educating young generations about the traditional friendship between the two countries and their armies.
The same day, the Cuban delegation was received by Deputy Minister of Defence Phan Van Giang, who said the visit will contribute to boosting Vietnam-Cuba defence ties in a more practical and effective manner.
Lieutenant General Giang, who is also Chief of the VPA’s General Staff, affirmed that VPA’s units and General Staff will actively implement cooperation contents agreed by Minister of Defence Ngo Xuan Lich and Minister Leopoldo Cintra Frias.
On the occasion, Giang thanked the Cuban military for facilitating Vietnamese officers’ study in Cuba, and expressed his belief that the bilateral defence cooperation will continue to thrive in the coming time.
