Vietnamese ethnic village launches activities to welcome Tet

VOV.VN - The Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism on the outskirts of Hanoi capital launched a wide range of cultural activities as from February 1 in order to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year festival, known locally as Tet.

As part of the event, the Tet traditions of ethnic groups from across the country are being re-enacted at the village. Coming to the village, visitors have the chance to join in the activities, including playing folk games, throughout February.

On New Year’s Eve, monks from Khmer ethnic pagodas are set to hold a ceremony to pray for a good harvest, strong health, peace, and happiness to all people.

A ritual will also be performed by the Nung ethnic group of Thai Nguyen province as they pray for peace. In addition, Then singing and Tinh zither playing will also be performed during the event.

A photo exhibition aimed at introducing traditional Tet festivals of various ethnic groups will run from January 15 to January 26, or the fourth to the 15th days of the first lunar month.

Furthermore, the festival will provide an opportunity for visitors to experience Xoe dancing and a Gong performance, in addition to discovering more about the daily lives of people from Muong and Tay ethnic groups.
