Vietnamese cuisine and tourism introduced in Italy
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in Italy, working in co-ordination with the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, hosted an event on December 12 in Italy to promote Vietnamese culinary culture and tourism.
While introducing Vietnamese Pho (noodle soup with beef or chicken) and Nem (fried spring rolls) to Italians and international friends, Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Duong Hai Hung emphasized that the two peoples of both countries share a great love for culinary arts.
The Vietnamese diplomat noted that cuisine is not only a source of life, but is also an indispensable part of the history, culture, and art of each nation.
The event themed "Pho and Nem Day" will help Italian people to gain greater insights into Vietnamese culture, as well as both its land and people, he noted.
Meanwhile, Valentina Muiesan, a representative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the significance of the event in introducing local delicacies such as Pho and Nem, two typical dishes of Vietnamese culinary tradition, to international friends.
She went on to express her belief that the opening of a direct flight between Hanoi and Milan this July will further contribute to promoting tourism activities, as well as boosting economic and trade ties between the two countries moving forward.
Recently, the World Tourism Organization voted Vietnam as one of the 20 countries with the greatest potential for tourism, especially street food.
Indeed, Vietnam has always topped the list of leading culinary and cultural destinations in Asia for three consecutive years.
