Vietnamese community promotes cultural integration at Asian Pao Festival

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese community in Japan showcased its cultural identity and commitment to international integration at the Asian Pao Festival, a food and cultural festival held in Sakai City on June 28.

The event brought together international communities living, studying, and working in Japan, offering a vibrant platform for cultural exchange through traditional cuisine, performances, and interactive activities from Asian countries.

The Vietnamese Association in Kansai participated as an official partner, helping promote people-to-people exchanges through cultural and artistic activities. Its presence highlighted both the unity of the Vietnamese community and its growing role in local community events in Japan.

The association presented two performances celebrating Vietnamese heritage - Dòng Máu Lạc Hồng (The Bloodline of Lac Hong) and an Áo dài dance Việt Nam Quê Hương Tôi (Vietnam, My Homeland), both choreographed and performed by its cultural troupe. Combining music, Vietnam's Áo dài (traditional long dress) and a strong sense of national identity, the performances left a positive impression on the international audience, alongside introducing the country's rich cultural heritage.

The festival also featured artistic performances from other countries, reflecting the cultural diversity of Japan's international community, while food stalls serving signature Asian dishes attracted large crowds.

Le Thuong, chairwoman of the Vietnamese Association in Kansai, shared that participating in international cultural exchange programmes not only helps promote Vietnam’s image abroad but also strengthens ties between the Vietnamese community, Japanese society and international friends, particularly as global integration continues to deepen.

Such events also help younger generations of Vietnamese in Japan stay connected to their roots and confidently present their cultural identity in a multicultural environment, she added.
