Vietnam wishes for deeper cultural and multilateral cooperation with Palestine

VOV.VN - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong proposed stronger coordination and mutual support in culture, sports, and tourism across multilateral mechanisms during his meeting with Palestinian Ambassador Shadi Abu Zarqa in Hanoi on July 31.

Extending his congratulations to Ambassador Shadi Abu Zarqa on his appointment, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong expressed confidence that with his extensive diplomatic experience, particularly in Asia, the Ambassador will enjoy a successful tenure and significantly contribute to solidifying the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Palestine.

Affirming that Vietnam and Palestine share a long-standing traditional friendship built upon solidarity, trust, and mutual support, Dong highlighted that bilateral ties have continuously received mutual backing across various fields, providing strong momentum for national development.

Praising the active participation of the Palestinian Embassy in the first Hanoi World Cultural Festival in 2025, the Vietnamese diplomat emphasized that the Embassy's presence helped introduce unique Palestinian cultural traits to the Vietnamese public while enhancing mutual understanding and people-to-people bonds. On this occasion, he invited the Palestinian Embassy to participate in future international cultural events hosted by Vietnam, notably the second Hanoi World Cultural Festival scheduled for October 2026 on a larger scale with more diverse activities.

He also expressed hope that the Ambassador will support and encourage Palestinian art troupes to participate, thereby showcasing Palestine's rich cultural and artistic identity to Vietnamese people.

Additionally, the Deputy Minister suggested that both sides should continue stepping up information exchange, coordination, and mutual support within multilateral cooperation mechanisms in culture, sports, and tourism where both nations are members.

He affirmed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will closely collaborate with the Palestinian Embassy to launch practical and effective cooperative activities as a way of deepening the traditional friendship.

In response, Ambassador Shadi Abu Zarqa voiced his honor in undertaking his mission in Vietnam and lauded the positive outcomes of bilateral cooperation in recent times.

Highlighting culture as a vital role in strengthening mutual understanding and connection between nations, the Ambassador expressed a strong desire to work closely with the Ministry to expand cooperation in heritage, museums, and archaeology, which will help promote each country's cultural heritage values and further deepen time-honoured friendship between Vietnam and Palestine.
