Vietnam pavilion attracts many visitors at WTO Open Day 2026 in Geneva

The event gave the public an opportunity to explore the historic building and its artworks, while taking part in a wide range of activities in the lakeside grounds overlooking Lake Geneva.

The opening ceremony took place in the Council Room, the WTO's main meeting chamber, with the participation of WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, representatives of the Swiss authorities and ambassadors from WTO members.

Addressing the event, Okonjo-Iweala thanked participants for attending and highlighted the history, architectural beauty and significance of the William Rappard Centre.

Following the opening ceremony, Ambassador Mai Phan Dung, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations Office in Geneva, visited the Vietnam pavilion and encouraged staff to continue promoting the country's signature products and traditional cuisine.

During her visit to the Vietnam pavilion, Okonjo-Iweala said she was pleased to see Vietnam showcasing its products and added that she particularly enjoyed Vietnamese spring rolls and fried glutinous rice balls.

In response, Minister-Counsellor Pham Quang Huy welcomed the WTO chief and other senior officials to the pavilion and invited them to enjoy Vietnamese iced milk coffee.

Throughout the event, Vietnam's food pavilion attracted a steady flow of visitors eager to sample dishes featuring the country's rich culinary heritage. Many visitors also said they hoped to visit Vietnam in the near future after touring the pavilion.

Open Day 2026 also gave WTO members an opportunity to show their cultural identities to the international public while helping raise awareness of the role of the multilateral trading system.

Vietnam's pavilion once again left a positive impression on international visitors through its hospitality and the distinctive appeal of the country's culture and cuisine.
