Spanish Embassy organizes cultural programs to help people de-stress

The embassy is collaborating with the Vietnamese Women’s Museum to organize a drawing contest called “The World Needs Superheroines”.

The contest aims to portray and laud the contributions of women in all aspects of everyday life and promote gender equality. It is open to everyone with no limit on age or artistic skills. Entries should be sent to the Cultural Department of the Spanish Embassy via emb.hanoi.sc@maec.es no later than October 15, 2021.

A virtual workshop on “How to draw a super heroine” will take place this Saturday, September 4, as an activity leading to the contest. The workshop will be led by painter Vuong Nguyen Thuy Linh and start at 10 a.m. 

Participants will be provided with detailed instructions on brainstorming and developing ideas, drawing techniques, materials, as well as other instruments to effectively create their own painting. Those interested can register for the workshop at https://bit.ly/venusieuanhhung. 

Besides, the embassy launched a literary contest titled “Study Spanish and enjoy life in 2021”, with an aim to encourage reading and writing in Spanish and promote Spanish culture in Vietnam. This is the second time the contest is being organized, following the success of the first edition last year.

Entries must be composed in Spanish in the form of short stories or poems covering various topics such as environmental protection, women in the 21st century, music and art, and solidarity. They should be submitted to emb.hanoi.sc@maec.es before the end of October 12, 2021.

“The Embassy of Spain, through these free online cultural activities, hopes to join hands with the Government and people of Vietnam to ease the period of social distancing due to the pandemic,” the embassy said in a statement.

Moreover, the embassy in partnership with the LaLiga and Cervantes Institute has introduced the first-ever Vietnamese-Spanish bilingual glossary book on football. Vietnamese football fans will be offered free access to the book. 

According to Spanish Ambassador to Vietnam Pilar Mendez Jimenez, football and languages can connect people across borders, and in the context of the widely spreading Covid-19 pandemic, people need to connect more than ever. 

Therefore, the Embassy of Spain collaborated with the LaLiga and Cervantes Institute to compile this book to help connect the peoples of the two countries and enable the Vietnamese to learn more about the Spanish language and Spanish football.
