VOV.VN - Local villagers in motley costumes parade through the streets of Tho Ha on February 28 at the triennial village festival.

The festival brings thousands to the small village in Bac Giang Province, about 60km from Hanoi.

It is held every three years to honour the patron saint of the village and Dao Tri Tien, the village's pottery ancestor.

It has been recognized as national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism since 2012.

The procession begins at 10:00 am and finishes at noon at the village’s communal house.

A soldier carrying a 4m2-wide national flag leads the march.

Three village elders cast as the Three Abundances of Happiness, Prosperity and Longevity.

A palanquin procession is a main feature of the parade.

A musical troupe playing flutes and drums accompanies the procession.

Processioners carry a smoked calf during a procession,

and a pig as offerings to the saint patron and holy mother.
