Photo and film exhibition on ASEAN Community underway in Binh Phuoc

VOV.VN - An exhibition featuring photos and documentary films detailing the ASEAN Community is currently being held in the southern province of Binh Phuoc, with the function running for three days from December 15 to December 17.

The event is being jointly held by the Ministry of Information and Communications in co-ordination with the provincial People’s Committee.

On display throughout the venue are 300 photos and approximately 60 documentary films produced by directors from ASEAN member states which highlight the beauty of the various lands, people, and cultures of the various regional nations that make up ASEAN.

In his speech at the event, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao stated that the exhibition is part of the Government’s action programme for the 2017 to 2020 period. This aims to promote ASEAN’s communication activities, the formation of the ASEAN Community, and the benefits it has brought to people throughout the bloc.

The occasion is an example of the nation’s desire to unite to build an ASEAN Community for peace, stability, and development, thereby contributing to raising public awareness of current issues, such as environmental protection, climate change, and ethnic groups, Deputy Minister Bao said.

Hanif Salim, Indonesian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, said the exhibition shows the solidarity among the bloc’s members whilst imparting knowledge and understanding of the ASEAN Community to young people. Through this, it is hoped that it will further strengthen co-operation efforts to turn ASEAN into a region of peace, progress, and prosperity.

Tran Tuyet Minh, vice chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee, said the event offers a chance for Binh Phuoc province to promote its potential, along with investment opportunities in the locality, to both domestic and international investors.
