Painting exhibition displaying Belarusian landscapes opens in HCM City

VOV.VN - Dozens of paintings depicting the natural landscape of Belarus are being showcased at an exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City as part of Belarusian Culture Days in Vietnam in 2023.

Upon addressing the opening ceremony on May 24, Anna Kononova, vice director of Belarusian State Academy of Arts, said the exhibition displays a total of 31 oil paintings, thereby providing an opportunity for visitors to contemplate the beautiful landscapes of the Eastern European nation through pieces of work by artists Gleb Otchik, Anton Vyrvo, and Anna Sadovskaya.

Sightseeing spots in Belarus such as Sozh river flowing through Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine; wooden churches; and Polykovichi village in the Mogilev region are depicted vividly in each painting.

Tran Nhat Hoang, deputy director of the international co-operation department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the event offers the chance for local people to gain greater insights about the culture of Belarus, thereby serving to strengthen the cultural exchange between the two countries.

The exhibition will last through to May 27.

Later on the same day the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus co-organised an art programme at the Opera House in Ho Chi Minh City to open Belarusian Culture Days in Vietnam in 2023.

The event will be held in Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province until May 27, involving a wide range of cultural activities.
