Over 4,000 artisans, artists to join Vietnam Culture Day in Hanoi
VOV.VN - More than 4,000 artisans, artists and performers are expected to take part in Vietnam Culture Day in Hanoi this November, as the capital stages one of its largest cultural festivals to showcase the country’s heritage and promote tourism and the cultural industries.
Scheduled for November 21-24, the event will take place around Hoan Kiem Lake, the Ly Thai To Flower Garden and several cultural venues in the city's historic centre, according to the Hanoi People's Committee.
The opening ceremony will be held on the morning of November 21 at the King Ly Thai To Monument, featuring a large-scale artistic performance titled "Thang Long Drum Festival", followed by an official opening ceremony and a heritage parade.
The parade, expected to involve around 4,000 artisans, artists and performers, will unfold in three chapters to depict Hanoi's evolution from its legendary origins to its emergence as a modern, internationally connected capital.
A wide range of tangible and intangible cultural heritage will be showcased, including the worship of the Four Immortals, the Four Sacred Temples of Thang Long, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, ca trù ceremonial singing, xẩm singing, water puppetry, Gong culture and tug-of-war rituals, alongside traditional crafts, scholarly villages, silk, Áo dài and the image of Hanoi as a City for Peace.
Throughout the four-day event, artistic programmes will be staged at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, the Martyrs' Monument and the Trang Tien Plaza-Hang Khay area. Audiences can enjoy chèo (traditional theatre), cải lương (reformed theatre), ca trù, xẩm singing, puppetry, circus performances, contemporary arts and youth music, as well as exchanges with artisans.
A highlight on the evening of November 22 will be a 3D mapping show at Turtle Tower, combining musical fountains, lasers, sound and lighting to recreate the history, culture and heritage of Thang Long-Hanoi through modern technology.
The event will also feature exhibitions and cultural experiences at venues including the exhibition spaces at 45 Trang Tien and 93 Dinh Tien Hoang, the Ho Guom Cultural Centre, Hanoi Drama Theatre and Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre.
Visitors can try on traditional costumes, experience virtual and augmented reality technologies, explore Hanoi's culture through different historical periods, and visit spaces showcasing traditional craft villages, cuisine, One Commune One Product (OCOP) items and handicrafts.
From November 23-24, wards and communes across the capital will also hold activities including art performances, folk games and showcases of local heritage, craft village products and cuisine.
