Nearly 2,000 women feature in Ao Dai event at Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2026

VOV.VN - Nearly 2,000 women joined the "Ao Dai - Colors of the Sea" festival on July 17, a major cultural event celebrating the Ao Dai (Vietnam's traditional long dress) held within the framework of the Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2026.

The program honored Vietnam’s traditional dress while encouraging eco-friendly lifestyles and promoting the coastal province as a friendly destination.

A key highlight of the event was the presentation of two Ao Dai collections: "Wave," reflecting the strength and gentleness of the sea, and "Vietnam Silk Brocade," which highlights traditional cultural beauty. The fashion shows featured traditional musical performances by the Khanh Hoa Traditional Arts Theater.

Following the showcase, participants rode bicycles along the coastal Tran Phu street to spread messages about environmental protection and sustainable transport.

This marks the fifth year the Khanh Hoa Women's Union has organized the annual event, updating its format each edition. Previous festivals featured large-scale parades, record-setting gatherings, and cyclo processions, before transitioning to bicycles this year.

Nguyen Thi Quynh Nga, Chairwoman of the Khanh Hoa Women's Union, stated that combining the traditional dress with familiar green transportation helps spotlight cultural values and invite domestic and international tourists to return to Khanh Hoa for future festival seasons.

Later that afternoon, Tran Phu street in Nha Trang ward hosted a street carnival as part of the Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2026.

The 90-minute event featured nearly 1,500 artists, dancers, children, and domestic and international beauty queens presenting vibrant carnival performances. Participants dressed as mermaids, marine creatures, fishermen, swiftlets, and members of the Cham and Raglai ethnic groups.
