Mrs Ao Dai Europe 2026 promotes Vietnamese cultural values to Int'l community

The event was part of the Vietnam Cultural, Culinary and Ao Dai Festival in the Czech Republic, bringing together 22 contestants from across Europe. The competition not only honoured the beauty, intellect and character of Vietnamese women living abroad but also helped preserve and promote traditional cultural values, including the Ao Dai, a symbol of grace and national identity. A highlight of the programme was the presence of Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš.

Together with former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam and leaders of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe, he visited Vietnamese cultural and culinary booths, demonstrating interest in the Vietnamese community as well as cultural exchange activities between the two countries.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam said the competition serves as a cultural bridge, helping promote friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries. He affirmed that the Ao Dai is a symbol of Vietnamese beauty, resilience and identity that has been preserved through generations.

The ambassador also described the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic as an important bridge connecting the peoples and cultures of the two countries. Through hard work, a spirit of integration and respect for local values, the Vietnamese community has made positive contributions to the host country's economic, cultural and social life. He expressed confidence that activities such as the competition will continue to strengthen ties among communities and promote cultural diversity, mutual respect and solidarity.

Representing the local administration, Karlovy Vary Governor Petr Kubis spoke highly of the event,  highlighting  it as evidence of harmonious coexistence among communities. He acknowledged the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community to local socio-economic life and said cultural exchange activities help enhance mutual understanding and foster community ties.

Hoang Dinh Thang, Presidium Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Chairman of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe, hailed efforts to maintain cultural activities rich in cultural identity, helping connect Vietnamese communities and promote the image of Vietnam and its people.

The final night opened with an Ao Dai performance themed “Towards the South”, followed by evening gown, talent and question-and-answer competitions for the top contestants.

In the final results, the Mrs Ao Dai Europe titles were awarded to Nguyen Thuong Thuy from Finland in the under-44 age group and Vu Ngan Ha from the Czech Republic in the 45-and-above age group.

The event helped honour the beauty of Vietnamese women, strengthen cultural exchanges and Vietnam-Czech Republic friendship, and promote Vietnamese cultural values to the international community.
