More than 10,000 people to attend 2023 International Yoga Day in Vietnam
VOV.VN - More than 10,000 people are expected to participate the 2023 International Yoga Day in Vietnam, according to a press conference held on June 2 in Hanoi.
This year's International Yoga Day is set to be celebrated in more than 35 provinces and cities across the nation, including prominent locations such as Fansipan peak in the northern province of Lao Cai and Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi, and other locations.
Upon addressing the event, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya emphasized that the Indian Embassy in Hanoi and Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City will co-operate with various localities in the second half of June to mark the ninth International Yoga Day and raise public awareness about the benefits of yoga for the purpose of health.
The Indian Ambassador revealed that yoga is a 5,000-year-old tradition of India that serves to combine physical, mental, and spiritual activities in order to achieve harmony among the body, mind, and nature.
In order to recognise the health benefits of Yoga for people all over the world, the UN General Assembly has declared June 21 each year to be International Day of Yoga, with Vietnam being an important partner of India in terms of promoting and celebrating International Yoga Day.
The opening event will be held on June 11 at Thong Nhat Park in Hanoi, while the ninth International Day of Yoga will be officially held on June 18 in the area around Hoan Kiem Lake.
In Lao Cai, there will be an exhibition to exhibit documents and pictures introducing the history of yoga's formation and development in India, the world, and Vietnam from June 16 to June 18.
Most notably, an impressive yoga performance on the top of Fansipan Mountain will be held on the evening of June 18.
