Local movie wins Best First Feature Film Award at IFF 2020
VOV.VN - Vietnamese movie "Rom", directed by Tran Thanh Huy, has been named as the winner of the Best First Feature Film Award at the International Film Festival (IFF) 2020 which took place recently in Montreal, Quebec.
The latest award marks the second international prize won by “Rom”, with the local film also claiming the top prize in the New Currents category during the Busan International Film Festival in 2019.
The concept of the film is based on the critically-acclaimed short film "4:30 p.m.", which was originally screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013. The movie tells the story of a teenage boy named Rom who lives in a slum in Saigon. He sells lottery tickets to people in the neighborhood with the aim of collecting enough money to find his parents who had abandoned him as a child.
