International free hug day in Hanoi

International Free Hugs Day will take place on August 5 at Savico Megamall in Long Bien District, Hanoi.

Entitled Little Things Called Love, the event will be organised by the international non-governmental organisation Free Hugs Vietnam from 2pm to 6pm. The main activities of the festival will include a flashmob dance, concert and group games.

Singer Ngo Lan Huong of The Voice 2017 and music bands from high schools including TMC - Truong Dinh Music Club will perform at the event.

This is the fifth International Free Hugs Day held in Vietnam. This year, more than 400 volunteers will participate in the event. They are students from high schools, colleges and universities around Hanoi. Founded in 2007, Free Hugs Vietnam has attracted about 20,000 participants, mostly high school and university students.

Colourful Free Hug boards with the message Little Things Called Love will be hung at the megamall.

In 2004, the Free Hugs Campaign was initiated by Juan Mann in Australia. Currently, the programme has spread to over 80 countries including Vietnam.
