Ho Chi Minh City to host second river festival this summer

VOV.VN - A river festival is set to be held from May 31 to June 8 in Ho Chi Minh City for the second time, with a series of cultural and entertainment activities taking place related to the southern city’s waterways for locals and tourists.

Saigon Port and Hiep Phuoc Port, as well as other tourist spots around the city, will be the venues of the festival, according to Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Tourism.

The highlight of the festival will be a real-scene art performance which will take place on the Saigon River, which combines traditional stage materials with modern sound and light effects, duly creating unique experiences for viewers.

The event is one of a series of tourism promotion events taking place both at home and abroad this year. It will consist of 22 events, including stalls selling local cuisine, fruits and specialties, river boat tours, art performances, boat race, and folk games.

It will also offer visually exciting watersport performances such as flyboards, water canoes, and boat sailing.

Last year the first edition of the river festival got underway in Ho Chi Minh City from August 4 to August 6. It was organised in various tourist sites citywide such as the Bach Dang Wharf, Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe Canal, Saigon River, and Saigon Port, attracting over 51,000 visitors.
