Hanoi brings Thang Long culture, knowledge to 2026 Frankfurt Book Fair
VOV.VN - Hanoi will present the cultural, historical, and intellectual values of Thang Long at the 2026 Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany from October 7 to 11.
Under the city’s plan, Hanoi will join the event with a 50-square-meter booth named “Hanoi – Vietnam” within the country’s shared pavilion. This provides an opportunity to introduce international visitors to a capital city with a thousand-year history and rich tradition of learning, while highlighting its dynamic, creative, and integrated spirit.
The major focus of the booth will be displaying publications and documents on Vietnamese and Hanoi history and culture. Key highlights include stories of Thang Long-Hanoi doctoral scholars and the World Documentary Heritage of the 82 Doctors' stelae at Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature Complex). These materials help clarify a centuries-old tradition of respecting knowledge, promoting learning, and valuing talented individuals.
In addition to static displays, Hanoi plans interactive activities to bring heritage closer to international guests. Visitors can make rubbings of ancient book woodblocks from the Imperial Academy, print patterns from the 82 Doctors' stelae, and try hand bookbinding. These direct experiences are expected to provide an engaging approach to Thang Long’s history and culture.
The “Hanoi -Vietnam” booth will also host copyright trading and book networking between domestic publishing houses and international partners. The city will additionally showcase materials on local tourism, heritage, craft villages, and cuisine, alongside representative handicrafts and local specialties.
