French Cinema Rendezvous brings classic films to HCMC audiences
VOV.VN - The French Cinema Rendezvous series is continuing its journey through some of France’s most celebrated cinematic works, offering weekly screenings every Saturday evening in Ho Chi Minh City.
The programme takes place at DCiné Cinema, creating a cultural gathering space for film enthusiasts and lovers of French culture.
Following its opening screening of the French classic The Black Tulip Knight, the series will continue on June 13 with Love on the Run directed by legendary filmmaker François Truffaut.
The film marks the final chapter in the story of Antoine Doinel, one of the most iconic characters in Truffaut’s body of work and a defining figure of the French New Wave movement. Blending nostalgia with reflections on adulthood, the film explores themes of love, memory and personal growth.
A week later, on June 20, the programme will present the animated classic The King and the Mockingbird. Widely regarded as one of the foundational works of modern French animation, the film invites viewers into a richly imaginative world while conveying timeless messages about freedom, compassion and the human spirit.
Concluding the June lineup on June 27 is The Family, a film that examines relationships across generations. Through an intimate and realistic approach, it offers thoughtful reflections on understanding, forgiveness and the enduring value of family bonds.
Organised by the French Institute in Vietnam (L'Espace), the French Cinema Rendezvous aims to foster a regular cultural meeting point for cinema lovers in Ho Chi Minh City. Through works that have stood the test of time, audiences can discover the artistic, intellectual and humanistic qualities that have made French cinema an enduring influence in world film culture.
The programme gives a chance to bring different French films to audiences, from thrilling historical tales and heartfelt love stories to enchanting animated classics and fascinating encounters with nature. French films set for free online screening during Tet
VOV.VN - As many as 11 French famous films will be screened free of charge via online movie platform DANET during “Ciné-Tet” from February 12 to March 12 to welcome the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.
