First ASEAN Family Day held in Russia

The embassies of ASEAN member states in Russia held the first ASEAN Family Day at the Hanoi-Moscow Trade Centre in the Russian capital on December 2.

The event aimed to promote the cultures of ASEAN members and offer a chance for them to meet and tighten solidarity. 

The event comprised of sport competitions and art performances and introduced traditional dishes of ASEAN countries.

In his opening remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador Ngo Duc Manh hailed the significance of the event in the context that Russia is enhancing its relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Asia in general.

He expressed his hope that through this exchange programme, the ASEAN community in Russia will grow further.

On this occasion, the diplomat introduced participants to a photo and document exhibition featuring the beauty of Vietnam’s seas and islands held by the embassy and the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications at the trade centre.

The ASEAN Family Day is held annually in Vietnam and other countries around the world. This year, the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia held the event in Russia for the first time.-
