Festival for Peace 2026 in Quang Tri: From Memory to Future

VOV.VN - Festival for Peace 2026 will be held in the central city of Quang Tri from April to December under the theme “From Memory to Future-Quang Tri for Peace” to further reinforce Quang Tri’s new position as a symbol of reconciliation, cooperation and development.

More than just a series of cultural, sports and tourism events, the biennial Festival for Peace follows the success of its inaugural edition in 2024. This year’s event is jointly organized by Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Quang Tri provincial People’s Committee.

At a press conference in Hanoi on June 25, Hoang Xuan Tan, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri provincial People’s Committee, said this year’s activities are designed with a modern and humanistic approach while strengthening international connectivity and spreading the message of peace.

A highlight of the festival will be the opening ceremony on the evening of July 4 at the Hien Luong-Ben Hai Special National Relic Site. The program will feature a large-scale multi-space performance recreating the journey from memories of war to aspirations for peace and development.

In addition to the opening ceremony, Festival for Peace 2026 will feature a wide range of activities throughout the year, including a cycling event for peace, a lantern release ceremony on the Thach Han River, candle-lighting tribute ceremonies at martyrs’ cemeteries, an international hot air balloon festival, an art exhibition by renowned painter Le Ba Dang, international marathon events, and cultural-tourism activities linked to the Khe Sanh coffee brand.

According to organizers, the festival carries profound political, cultural and diplomatic significance while contributing to the “Quang Tri- Destination of Peace” brand, creating added impetus for economic development, attracting investment and supporting preparations for National Tourism Year 2027.

The province is striving to be recognized as a place where memory is honored, reconciliation is nurtured, and the future is shaped through cooperation and sustainable development.
