Distinctive Independence Market showcases local culture in Da Nang

The market is part of the 2026 “Hai Van Awakens the Great Forest” Tourism Week, organised by the Hai Van Ward People’s Committee in coordination with Leaf Village & Farm.

The market features 50 stalls showcasing One Commune One Product (OCOP) items, agricultural goods, local specialities and cuisine.

Visitors can take part in a range of hands-on activities, including making traditional cakes, weaving brocade, trying on Co Tu traditional costumes, catching fish with bamboo basket traps, making tò he figurines and playing folk games. Traditional performances of bài chòi, a traditional form of folk singing and game-playing in central Vietnam, are also held at the market.

The event also features cultural exchanges involving Co Tu ethnic communities from Hai Van Ward, including the former Hoa Bac mountainous commune, as well as communities from Tay Giang, Tra Leng and Tra Tap in Da Nang. 

The market gives local producers and cooperatives an opportunity to introduce their products directly to residents and visitors while promoting the cultural heritage of ethnic communities in the region. 

Bui Van Xuan, sales director of Leaf Village & Farm, shared that one of the highlights is the wide range of OCOP products from different wards and communes, along with several products from communities across central Vietnam.

“Food stalls run by local people from Hoa Bac have proved particularly popular with visitors”, he stressed.

The market is also intended to strengthen connections among local producers, communities and visitors as part of activities marking Vietnam’s National Day on September 2.

National ethnic culture village offers events on National Day celebration
