ASEAN traveling art exhibition opens in Hanoi

VOV.VN - A traveling art exhibition featuring outstanding works by artists from ASEAN countries opened in Hanoi on June 28.

The event, jointly organised by the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, the Guangxi Arts University of China and the Lijiang School of Painting of Guangxi, features more than 90 selected paintings across a variety of genres, including landscapes, flower-and-bird paintings and portraits. The works showcase the beauty of nature, celebrate life and reflect the fusion of tradition and modernity in the artistic traditions of Vietnam and China.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Do Hong Quan, chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, noted that the exhibition builds on the success of a 2025 music exchange project between the two sides and serves as a testament to the friendship and mutual understanding between Vietnamese and Chinese artists.

Meanwhile, Vice President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association Mai Thi Ngoc Oanh said the displayed works highlight the fusion of tradition and modernity, particularly the enduring value of Eastern ink painting, while conveying aspirations for peace, friendship, and development.

According to Wei Junping, president of Guangxi Arts University, the Lijiang School of Painting is a contemporary Chinese art movement developed by faculty members and local artists. Inspired by the landscapes of Guilin and traditional Chinese culture, the school continues to innovate while preserving classical artistic values.

In recent years, the Lijiang School of Painting has taken part in a number of international cultural exchange programmes and has staged exhibitions in Malaysia, Thailand and Laos.

The exhibition is open to the public at the Vietnam Exhibition Centre for Culture and Arts in Hanoi until June 29.
