VOV.VN - Staff working at Vietnam's Level-2 field Hospital No. 3 are currently attending a training course to prepare for their participation in the UN’s peacekeeping mission in South Sudan.
The Department of Peacekeeping Operations co-operates with Military Hospital 175 and relevant agencies on December 23 to run a training course for staff members of the Level-2 Field Hospital No.3. These preparation efforts are taking place before they depart for South Sudan where they will join the international peacekeeping force.
The training aims to provide the hospital’s staff members with better skills when on duty in the East African country, with a specific focus on preventing and responding to the ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The training course consist of three main phases which are running from December 17 to December 31.
The initial phase take place between December 17 and December 19 and can be considered the preparation period, with the aim of consolidating all preparation work, including locations, contents, and equipment, to ensure the practical training runs smoothly and efficiently.
The second phase runs from December 20 to December 29 and is a general practice training phase, including handling situations regarding the diagram and sand table.
The last phase will last from December 30 to December 31 and is a summary of conclusions and review of lessons learned.
The training course provides an opportunity for Vietnamese officers to gain invaluable field experiences whilst evaluating their own ability to deal with various circumstances. This will ultimately allow them to have the capacity to boost their professional competence and skills, thereby fulfilling all of the tasks of the assigned missions when they go on duty in South Sudan.
The nation has so far deployed two field hospitals with 126 staff members to South Sudan.
The 63 staff members that make up the Level-2 Field Hospital No. 3 are scheduled to leave for duty in South Sudan during the first quarter of 2021.
