
Addressing the ceremony, President Kersti Kaljulaid thanked Vietnam for supporting Estonia in becoming a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2020-2021 term, and said the two countries have effectively coordinated at this UN body to promote security regionally and globally.
At the courtesy reception to the newly accredited ambassador, President Kersti Kaljulaid extended her best wishes to Vietnamese leaders, and at the same time welcomed the enforcement of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), saying the trade deal will create an important driving force behind the two countries’ stronger trade ties.
She expressed her belief that the friendly relationship between the two countries will be further strengthened in the coming time, especially in the field of digitalization and e-government, one of Estonia’s leading areas globally.
For her part, Ambassador Dang Thi Hai Tam conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Vietnamese Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong to President Kersti Kaljulaid.
She spoke highly of Estonia’s important initiatives and contributions as a non-permanent member of the UNSC, and vowed to do her best during her working term to boost cooperation between Vietnam and Estonia in many fields, including digitalization and e-government.
