US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is to wrap up a tour of Eastern Europe and the Caucasus with a visit to Georgia.

She has already visited Ukraine, Poland, Azerbaijan and Armenia on the five-day trip.

Mrs Clinton will tell the government of Mikheil Saakashvili in Tbilisi that he still has US support.

US has been working to improve its own relations with Russia, who fought a war against Georgia two years ago.

Mrs Clinton's trip to Georgia comes 12 months after the Vice President Joe Biden visited.

Then, Mr Saakashvili asked the US to provide it with more advanced weapons, a request that was turned down by the US.

This year Georgian officials say the topic is not on the agenda.

In Azerbaijan and Armenia, the US secretary of state held talks in a bid to end a long-running dispute over the enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Visiting both countries on the same day, Hillary Clinton told them that the US was ready to help achieve peace.

The two nations have been in dispute about the territory since a 1994 ceasefire ended a three-year war that claimed up to 30,000 lives.

Mrs Clinton also urged Turkey to normalise ties with Armenia.
