It was a remote control blast which took place in an Alto car in front of an old police station in Budhbir town of Peshawar. Police cordoned off the area and started investigation.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene and transferred the injured to a nearby government-run hospital, where emergency was declared. Doctors said that two children, a woman and three security personnel were among the dead. It is feared that the death toll could rise.
According to local TV channels reports, the blast caused damages to several vehicles and some nearby buildings.
Sources said that the police station was the main target of the car bomber.
Moreover, at least five policemen were killed in a sabotage attack by terrorists in Muchh area of Quetta, southwest Pakistan, in the wee hours of Wednesday, local media reported.
According to reports, some unidentified miscreants opened fire at a police van on the way from Jafferabad to Quetta, killing two personnel on the spot.
Three policemen were abducted, however, the bodies of these personnel were recovered from a nearby area a little later.
