A pair of suicide bombings in southwestern Pakistan left 17 people dead and 25 others injured on September 7, police said.

Tariq Manzoor, a senior police official in the city of Quetta, said two suicide bombers targeted the home of Brigadier Farukh Shehzad, a senior official of the Frontier Corps paramilitary force.

Recently, Pakistan's military announced it apprehended three al Qaeda leaders from the suburbs of Quetta with the help of the Frontier Corps.

Quetta is the capital of Balochistan province, which has been a hotbed for militancy.
