Of the figure, mobile phones and spare parts brought home the most with US$996 million. Other goods earning US$100 million and above included crude oil, electronics and accessories, and transportation vehicles.
During the period, Vietnam spent over US$7.5 billion on imports from Thailand, up 14.3% year-on-year, resulting in a deficit of over US$3.8 billion.
In the first eight months of this year, Vietnam’s total import and export turnover hit US$308.07 billion, up 13% over the same period of 2017. Of which, export turnover was US$155.4 billion, up 14.5%, and import was US$152.7 billion, a rise of 11.6%.
