Vietnam enjoys trade surplus with India in first quarter

VOV.VN - The country recorded a trade surplus of US$343 million with India during the first quarter of this year, according to figures released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

The reviewed period saw bilateral trade between the two nations reach US$ 2.345 billion, including US$1.398 billion from Vietnam’s exports.

India is currently Vietnam’s 10th largest trade partner, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Trade Promotion Agency, noting that there is plenty of room for both sides to fully tap untapped potentials for further development in the time ahead.

The south Asian nation is seen as a major consumer of Vietnamese fruits such as longan, litchi, rambutan and durian.

Vietnam and India are poised to reach US$15 billion in bilateral trade this year.
