In the first half of August alone, the province fetched more than US$ 2 million from exporting over 7,700 tonnes of tapioca. The products were shipped mainly to Japan and China.
With these earnings, the processors have been able to increase the price of cassava bought from farmers to between 1,000-1,040 VND per kilo.
Tay Ninh is Vietnam’s largest cassava producer with a yield of 32,000 tonnes per ha a year. The province is now home to 80 household processing establishments and more than 10 processing factories, which provide tapioca for export.
