NA Chairman meets US businesses in New York

(VOV) - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung met a US business delegation on September 3 on the sidelines of the fourth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, in New York City.

US businesspeople told the top legislator that they hope he will facilitate US investments in Vietnam as a contribution to strengthening economic links between the two countries.

Mr. Hung briefed guests on the results of 30 years of carrying out the Doi Moi (Renewal) process and said that Vietnam’s investment environment is beginning to open up and becomes more transparent. The law on foreign investments and other legalities have created a more transparent system thus luring increased foreign investment.

Hung stressed that trade and economic cooperation are important motives for Vietnam-US relations, and that Vietnam considers the US as a leading economic and trade partner.

He reiterated the nation’s willingness to create the best possible conditions for businesses, especially US investors to run investments in the country.

The NA leader suggested US businesses should take heed to environment protection, raise their corporate social responsibilities standards, help Vietnam train human resources and transfer more technology to ensure sustainable development.
