Ricardo Mattei, Director of the Development Cooperation Agency under the Italian Embassy in Vietnam made the statement at a working session with the Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee on November 20.
The Italian guest also affirmed Italy’s willingness to transfer technology to Vietnamese businesses as the country has strengths in furniture, footwear, garment, farm produce processing and mechanics.
The country has carried out a project to improve Vietnamese SMEs’ competitiveness by setting up a free business training centre.
Italy will provide Vietnam with 15 million EUR in soft loans and 200,000 EUR via the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) to help implement technical support projects in Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces and Ho Chi Minh City, he said.
The province’s Vice Chairman in turn said Italy-funded projects meet local SMEs’ development demand, adding his province wants to cooperate with Italy in human resources training and technological transfer.
