Speaking at the opening ceremony, Pham Thiet Hoa, director of the municipal Investment & Trade Promotion Centre, said ornamental fish is considered a key agricultural product of the city with significant potential for production development and export.

This year, lasting until September 16, the expo consists of different areas, including a 600m2 aquarium with 200 ponds to display various types of fish and aquatic designs.
It also covers a commercial space with 80 stalls run by 60 firms from HCM City, Hanoi, Khanh Hoa, Da Nang, and Binh Duong, among others. They are showcasing ornamental fish, aquarium plants and fish tank supplies.
The organising board said new features this year include areas that introduce biotechnology products and models applied advanced technologies in the field, and a consultation space for businesses and visitors.
Nguyen Hoang Dinh, owner of the Mekong Discus fish farm, said the exhibition is not only a chance for insiders to get together but also an effective trade promotion platform.
He said that after his participation last year, he has secured five contracts to sell fish and design tanks.
