National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan made the statement while attending an inaugural ceremony of the Ca Mau Gas Processing Plant (GPP Ca Mau) invested by PVGas in the southernmost province of Ca Mau on May 2.
In her remarks, the top legislator affirmed the Party and State’s readiness to give priority to oil and gas sector, including gas industry and praised PetroVietnam and PVGas’ efforts to make Vietnam one of the countries being able to turn gas into electricity and fertilizer.
The inauguration of the plant is to actualize the Vietnam National Energy Development Strategy adopted by the government, thereby helping to boost economic development in Ca Mau.
Built within two years at a total cost of more than US$450 million, the facility has a daily capacity of 6.2 million cu.m of gas and can hold 8,000 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas and 3,000 cu.m of condensate.
Once operational, it will be able to supply some 600 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas and 35 tonnes of condensate to the market per day, meeting 10% of domestic demand.
The operation of the Ca Mau gas processing plant will help PV GAS achieve its strategic target of playing a leading role in the gas industry in Vietnam toward further developing in the international market.
This is the final stage for the Ca Mau Gas-Power-Fertilizer Complex to serve the development process in the western region in particular and the whole country in general.
