Foreigners purchase 16,000 houses in Vietnam over five-year period

VOV.VN - According to the statistics released by the Ho Chi Minh City Real Estate Association (HoREA), foreign nationals have purchased between 14,800 and 16,000 houses nationwide over the past five years, representing 2% of all homes sold during the reviewed period.

The figures indicate that Ho Chi Minh City drew the highest number of foreign buyers throughout the five-year period, accounting for approximately 80% of the total number of homes purchased by foreigners throughout the country.

According to the HoREA, foreign nationals mainly bought houses from large property developers such as Vingroup, Novaland, Phu My Hung, CBRE, and Hung Thinh, with these firms selling a total of 10,571 properties, making up 86% of the overall figure.

HoREA added that owners of housing projects strictly comply with regulations relating to the 30% cap placed on the number of apartments in a single project that can be sold to foreigners.

In terms of some projects by Gateway Thao Dien, Nassim, and Thao Dien Pearl, the 30% cap has been reached, with foreigners able to buy houses through a 50-year leasing contract.
